LBS Commissions Mini-Newsroom At MICAT

MONROVIA, September 7 (LINA) - A mini-newsroom to be used by the Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS) has been established at the Ministry
of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism (MICAT) on Capitol Hill in Monrovia.

The newsroom, which was commissioned on Wednesday at a brief ceremony held in the Charles Gbenyon Conference Hall, is intended to boost LBS’
capacity in the discharge of its duties of informing and educating the Liberian populace through effective information dissemination.

Speaking at the ceremony, Information Minister Lenn Eugene Nagbe said the newsroom will serve as a base for LBS reporters, specifically those assigned to news beats in central Monrovia.

Nagbe said the project, even though a small one, is very important because it will enhance the professional capacity of the LBS.

He said over the years, LBS has served as a medium for free speech, development and peace and as such the Board of Directors will continue to support the management in carrying out programs and projects that will improve the entity.

He said the LBS has been able to reach almost every part of the country and the world with good programming, noting that the entity has also permitted the airing of critical voices on the national platform.

"The LBS has demonstrated to the people of Liberia and the world what a professional broadcast entity is required to do," Nagbe said.

He then commended the management and staff of LBS for the “great work they have done over the years,” and urged them to continue to inform the people of Liberia through their professional reportage.
