MIA Training Bong Local Leaders In Decentralization

GBARNGA, September 5 ( LINA) -The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has commenced a five-day training program on decentralization coordination in Gbarnga, Bong County

Speaking at the start of the training, Internal Affairs Minister Dr. Henrique Topka said the exercise is intended to enable county officials understand the various decentralization programs, including the County Service Center.

Dr. Tokpa said the training is also intended to enhance experience sharing among the participants and those fostering government’s decentralization initiative.

He encouraged participants at the forum to work along with lawmakers to ensure the speedy passage of the Local Government Act.

The Internal Affairs Minister said the passage of the Local Government Act is crucial to ensuring that Liberians adequately benefit from basic social services around the country.

Also speaking, Bong County Superintendent Selena Polson Mappy described the exercise as pivotal in ensuring effectiveness and efficiency among local government officials in the county.

Superintendent Mappy hailed the United Nations Development Program for its continued support to the government decentralization efforts across Liberia.
