By S. Kannay Ziamo, LINA Nimba County Correspondent

GANTA, August 30 (LINA) - The Project Manager of Mitigating Local Disputes in Liberia (MLDL) based in Nimba County has disclosed that his entity has provided equipment and supplies to aid local governance in the county since its inception in 2014.

Making the disclosure in an interview with the Liberia News Agency in the county recently, Thomas Suah said assistance provided include computers, motorbikes and stationeries.

Suah said MLDL has also provided training in land and security education for local authorities, organized security update meetings as well as conducted trainings for clerks of commissioners in report writing.

Suah said MLDL came into being as a result of the enactment of the National Security and Intelligence Act passed into law by the government few years ago.

The Act calls for the establishment of District and County Security Councils across the country.

He explained that MLDL is currently operating in four counties -- Bong, Lofa, Grand Gedeh and Nimba.

“For Nimba County, MLDL is presently operating in Bain-Garr, Yarmein, Gbehlay Geh, Kpablee, Buu Yao and Wee-Gbeyee districts with plans to extend to other parts of the county when funding is made available by the partners, Suah revealed.
