Min. Nagbe Lauds U.S. For ‘Countless’ Support To Liberia

By Wilfred Gortor

MONROVIA, August 18 (LINA) - The Minister of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism (MICAT), Lenn Eugene Nagbe, has commended the government of the United States of America for the numerous support and assistance it has rendered to the Government and people of Liberia over the years.

Nagbe said that the U.S. Government support to Liberia is enormous and immeasurable, and hoped that the diplomatic relationship subsisting between the two nations will continue to yield positive results.

The MICAT boss made the comments Thursday when U.S. Ambassador to Liberia Christine Elder paid him a courtesy visit at the Ministry of Information in Monrovia.

Nagbe appreciated the visit by Ambassador Elder, and stressed that cooperation is key to strengthening any partnership.

Speaking briefly, Ambassador Elder commended the Government of Liberia and thanked Nagbe for a job well done at MICAT, noting that though a diplomat she has a background in communications and cultural affairs, terming it as a key component in disseminating and crafting volumes of messages around the world.

She said that there are key elements of the Liberian society, ranging from the economy, civil society, among others, in which the U.S. is wishing to further enhance partnership with Liberia.

Elder, who previously served as the Director for Southern African Affair, with responsibility for U.S. relations, with ten countries in sub-Saharan Africa, including Mozambique, where she was the U.S. Deputy Chief of Mission from 2010-2013, was sworn in June 20 as U.S. Ambassador to Liberia.
