2017 Elections Key To Enhancing Liberia's Democracy - Gbala
By Stephen N. Sonpon

MONROVIA, August 17 (LINA) - Attorney-at-Law Kanio Bai Gbala has said he sees the 2017 General and Presidential Elections as a cardinal step towards entrenching democracy in Liberia.

He noted that the upcoming 2017 elections will be the first time for a post-conflict democracy to transfer power to another government in Liberia.

Gbala said this period will enable Liberians to show that their democracy is solid and prepared to deal with challenges that may surface in the future.

Gbala made the comments on Tuesday when he appeared on a local radio talk show in Monrovia.

He stressed that there are many forces of consultation and amalgamation that have to take place as Liberia moves towards 2017, adding that political parties are under obligation to make known their ideologies and platforms in the best way possible to the people.
