MPW Urges Respect For Right-Of-Way Along Red Light-Ganta Road
By S. Kannay Ziamo, LINA Nimba County Correspondent

GANTA, August 16 (LINA) - The Ministry of Public Works has warned those encroaching on the right-of-way along the Red Light-Ganta Highway to desist or face the full weight of the law.

The Ministry, through its Transport and Engineering Department, said it has observed that residents along that route who were compensated for their property have begun encroaching on the right-of-way, terming this act as unfortunate and illegal.

The Ministry’s warning was contained in a press statement issued in the county on Monday at the start of the planting of specialized concrete demarcation or right-of-way markers along the road from the Liberia Coca Cola Bottling Company in Paynesville, Montserrado County to Ganta in Nimba County and onward to the Guinea border.

According to the release, the Ministry has set September 15 as the day to begin the demolition of structures along the route, adding that government will not compensate anyone whose property falls in the right-of-way.

The exercise being carried out by the Ministry is intended to secure the established right-of-way for future development which includes the running of light poles, water pipes and telephone lines.
