Liberia Hails Pakistan On 69th Independence Anniversary
MONROVIA, August 11 (LINA) - President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has sent a message of congratulations to the Government and people of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on the auspicious occasion marking the 69th Independence Anniversary.
August 14 is observed annually to celebrate Pakistan’s independence from British rule in 1947.
It commemorates the day when Pakistan achieved independence and was declared a Sovereign nation following the end of the British Raj in 1947. Pakistan came into existence as a result of the Pakistan which aimed for the creation of an independent Muslim state by division of the north-western regions ofSouth asia.
According to a Foreign Ministry release, in her message to Mr. Mamnoon Hussain, President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, President Sirleaf extended warmest felicitation and best wishes to the Government and people of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on behalf of the Government and people of the Republic of Liberia and in her own name.
She hoped that as the Government and people of Liberia join the people of Pakistan in observing this auspicious occasion, the bond of friendship and cooperation so happily subsisting between the two countries will be further strengthened for the mutual benefit of both peoples.
President Sirleaf than prayed that the Almighty Allah will continue to grant His Excellency President Mamnoon Hussain wisdom to lead the people of Pakistan to noble heights.
