Pres. Sirleaf Congratulates CAR On 56th Anniversary
MONROVIA, August 11 (LINA) - President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has sent a message of congratulations to the Government and people of the Central African Republic (CAR) on the occasion commemorating the country’s 56th Independence Anniversary.
August 13 is celebrated annually to commemorate the Independence Anniversary of the Central African Republic from France in 1960.
According to a Foreign Ministry release, in her message to Mr. Faustin-Archange Touadéra, President of the Central African Republic, President Sirleaf extended, on behalf of the Government and people of Liberia and in her own name, profound congratulations and best wishes to the Government and people of the Central African Republic.
The Liberian leader stressed that this auspicious occasion comes just three months after President Touadéra assumed the leadership of the Central African Republic, thus ushering the first elected leadership since the conflict of the last three years.
“As the people of CAR celebrate this milestone on the back of the return to democratic governance, we recall the longstanding cordial ties and cooperation our two countries continue to enjoy and look forward to expanding this excellent partnership for the prosperity of our two peoples,” the Liberian President added.
