Taylor Urges Media To Halt Negative Portrayal Of Liberia

By Ballah M. Kollie, LINA

MONROVIA, August 4 (LINA) – Bong County Senator Jewel Taylor is urging the Liberian media to highlight the positive things taking place in the country in a bid to balance the growing wave of negative portrayal of their homeland in the local press.

“I hate the fact that when you listen to the radio most mornings all you hear is bad views and what it does is that it is dampens the spirit of the Liberian people,” Senator Taylor noted.

She wants Liberians to “be passionate about responding to the needs of fellow Liberians, instead of the current wave of adverse presentation of issues in the country.”

She was speaking at the unveiling of a computer lab built by the Cummings Africa Foundation and the Liberia Cocoa Cola Bottling Company (LCCBC) at the St. Clements University in Monrovia.

Senator Taylor, who serves as Co-Chair on the University’s Board of Trustees, promised to set up a Petroleum Lab in the next few months at the university.

She also promised that a similar gesture by the Cummings Africa Foundation will be accorded the Bong County Technical College and Gboveh Dolokelen High School in Bong County.

She wants Liberians to strive as much as possible to help needy citizens with educational opportunities.
