By David Pamas Seedee, LINA

TUBMANBURG, July 28 ( LINA) - Over 45 female Ebola survivors in Tehr District, Bomi County, have benefited from an assortment of food and non-food items donated by the Bomi County-based NGO, Women in Peace Initiative (WOPEI).

Making the donation in Lekpeh Town, Tehr District recently, the Executive Director of Women in Peace Initiative ( WOPEI ) in Bomi County, Agnes Sando Siryon, said Ebola  victims in the county should be remembered during good and bad times.

She said WOPEI is making the donation to the women to enable them afford meals for their children during the July 26, Independence Day celebration in the district.

Director Siryon stressed that the gesture by Wopei is intended to put smiles on the faces of the women and their children, and to remind them that they have not been forgotten about in their plight.

Fifty bags of Red Star 25 KGS Rice, 65 half gallons of oil, three bags of super Salt Triple Refined Iodized Table Salt, pots, buckets among others, were items donated.

She put the cost of the items at about US$7,452. Madam Siryon assured the women of WOPEI’s support anytime they are called upon during good and bad times.

Receiving the items on behalf of the women, the Chairlady of the Ebola survivors, Madam Fatu Folley, described the donation as timely.

She said the donation came at the time they were thinking where to get meals for their children during this Independence Day Celebrations.

She said the women will remain ever grateful to officials and members of WOPEI for the gesture.
