Law Maker Wants Technical Institution Built In Ganta
By: S. Kannay Ziamo, LINA Nimba County Correspondent

GANTA, July 29 (LINA) - Nimba County District #1 Representative Jeremiah Koung has underscored the need for the establishment of a Technical Vocational Institution in Ganta.

Making the call via mobile phone on a local radio program in Ganta on Friday, Representative Koung regretted that Ganta which has a population of over half a million, most of whom are youth, does not have a technical vocational institution that can absorb young people who don't have the means to pursue college education.

He therefore stressed the need for the establishment of a vibrant technical vocational institution that will provide basic skills for youth, not only from Ganta but across the county.

The Nimba County lawmaker noted that the establishment of a technical college will also create jobs for youth of the county, thereby improving the economy of the county.

Representative  Koung attributed the high rate of unemployment among the youth to the lack of basic skills that would make them marketable.

Meanwhile, he has lauded members of both Houses of the National Legislature for passing the bill that seeks to establish a Technical Vocational institution in Ganta, and called on President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf to consider its speedy signing into law adding “When done, this will be one of the many remarkable achievements of the UP-led Government.”
