Bong Youth Faces Criminal Charges

GBARNGA, July 26 ( LINA)-  Steve Kennedy, the ring leader of a group of youth who recently accused Bong County Education officer Edward Kpulun of  assaulting a girl at an entertainment center in Gbarnga, has been charged and forwarded to court.

Kennedy and three other youths in the county recently led a massive campaign on local radio talk shows and ‘Hataye Centers’ in Gbarnga
accusing Kpulun of assaulting the girl at the Beam Entertainment Center on July 10.

Mr. Kpulun who took exception to the allegation, complained to the police in Gbarnga that Kennedy and cohorts were involved in a campaign
of character assassination against him and asked for the police's prompt intervention.

The Crime Services Department of the Bong County Police Detachment Monday formally charged Kennedy with Criminal Malevolence and Criminal Cohercion and forwarded him to the Gbarnga magisterial court.

Kennedy's failure to arrive at the court in time on Monday caused his lawmaker Attorney Patrick Williams to leave the court facility, a
situation that led court officials to handcuff  him and forward him to the Gbarnga Central Prison.

Kennedy was freed few minutes later after resident Circuit Judge Boimah Kontoe granted a bond on his behalf.

Meanwhile, the court has ordered Kennedy to appear in court along with his lawyer at 10: am on Wednesday, July 27.
