President and ITC Discuss Tourism in Liberia

MONROVIA, July 27 (LINA)- President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has told a visiting delegation from the International Trade Center (ITC) that she sees a great and promising potential in Liberia’s tourism sector.

An Executive Mansion release said President Sirleaf was speaking Wednesday, July 27, when the delegation paid her a courtesy call at her Foreign Ministry office in Monrovia.

Receiving the Export Strategy on Tourism Launch Document, the Liberian leader thanked the delegation for the collaboration and partnership so far and noted that the strategy outlines a roadmap that would eventually take Liberia where it wants to be.

She stressed the need to improve existing infrastructure, which will eventually accrue relevant dividends and the desired results.

The ITC Executive Director, Ms. Arancha Gonzalez, said the delegation was delighted to be in the country, especially to be a part of the launch of the Liberia National Export Strategy on Tourism, which ties in with Liberia’s Post-Accession Plan.

She said Liberia has enormous potentials for tourism that can attract trade and its attending opportunities for employment. She said the ITC remains committed to partnering with
Liberia to make the country a tourist destination.

The delegation was led to the President’s office by the Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Mr. Lenn Eugene Nagbe.
