Public Works, AfDB on Assessment In Maryland, River Gee

By John Bropleh, Maryland County Correspondent

HARPER, March 12 (LINA) - A sixteen-member team of engineers and environmentalists from the Ministry of Public Works and the African Development Bank (AfDB) are on an assessment visit to Maryland and River Gee counties.

The team headed by engineers Ambrose Wreh of the Labor Department of the Public Works Ministry and Prince Tambah of the AfDB, Tuesday paid a courtesy call on county authorities upon arrival in Harper, Maryland County.

According to the Liberia News Agency Maryland County Correspondent, the team is in the county to assess the 80km Fish Town-Harper Highway.

In a brief meeting with the County Development Superintendent, Mr. Nathaniel Toe, who received the team on behalf of the Superintendent, Mr. Wreh said they were in Maryland County to study the highway and present findings to the African Development Bank as government is set to begin pavement of the road this year.

He said they were also in the area to raise awareness about the road project, noting that awareness on commencement of the road project was necessary, because the primary beneficiaries, who are the people, should know about such undertaking.

Mr. Toe thanked the team which comprised two female engineers and two female environmentalists for the trip and promised the county’s fullest support to the road project.

The team has since left Maryland County for Fish Town in River Gee in continuation of the assessment tour.
