Pres. Sirleaf Returns From AU Summit; Calls For Patriotism, Hard Work

MONROVIA, July 20 (LINA) - President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf is challenging Liberians to develop the values of hard work and patriotism, while urging the citizenry to be disciplined and exhibit ethical work habits that will contribute to the ongoing reconstruction and development initiatives of Liberia.

According to an Executive Mansion release, the Liberian leader made the statement when she addressed journalists at the Roberts International Airport (RIA) upon her arrival from Kigali, Rwanda on Tuesday, July 19, where she attended the 27th Ordinary Session of Afrcan Union (AU) Assembly.

President Sirleaf said by cultivating these values, Liberia will follow the good examples of Ethiopia and Rwanda; two African countries, she said, have developed very quickly, adding, “Those two countries have developed because of hard work and discipline demonstrated by their citizens.”

She also indicated her support for the recommendations of African States to contribute to the effective and efficient operations of the AU.

She said as a result of her professional experience, she had the opportunity to work in Ethiopia and Rwanda, which have “transformed tremendously because of the discipline and work ethic of their citizens”.
