President Sirleaf Identifies With The Needy
MONROVIA, July 19 (LINA) - President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has, ahead of Liberia’s independence day celebration, identified with several needy through the distribution of 1,000 bags of rice and several cartons of rice and other food items to various communities hosting the handicapped and disabled in Monrovia, parts of Montserrado and Bomi counties.
According to an Executive Mansion release, the donation was made on behalf of President Sirleaf by Mr. Toe Wesseh, Coordinator of the Special Presidential Services on Monday, July 18.
Making the donation, Mr. Wesseh said this tradition to share food and other items during the independence celebration was a demonstration of the Liberian leader’s concern for the welfare of every Liberian, including the disabled and handicapped communities.
Receiving the items, the spokesperson of the Concerned Disabled of Coconut Plantation, James Sando, thanked President Sirleaf and expressed profound gratitude on behalf of their members for her benevolent gesture and praised the Liberian leader for her continued assistance and care for them.
They assured the President that the donation will be used for the purpose intended.
The recipients of Monday’s donation included handicapped, Deaf and Dumb, Hayes Mission in Bomi, and Concerned Disabled of Coconut Plantation in Monrovia.
Mr. Wesseh said the President’s benevolent gesture will be extended to Grand Bassa, Margibi and Bong counties in the coming days.
