NASSCORP Hails NHA Over 70 Housing Units Project
By Decontee M. Wesseh, LINA

MONROVIA, July 18 (LINA) –The National Social Security and Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP) has hailed the National Housing Authority (NHA) for progress being made in the construction of 70 additional housing units at NASSCORP Village in Brewerville outside Monrovia.

Construction of the housing units is being done by 10 Liberian contractors vetted by the Public Procurement and Concessions Commission (PPCC) under the supervision of the NHA with funding from NASSCORP.

NASSCORP Assistant Head of Media Relations Cora T. Fergusson made the commendation over the weekend when an array of NASSCORP executives paid a visit to the construction site.

Ferguson said she was overwhelmed by the progress made thus far by the NHA, and expressed her institution’s gratitude to “all hands on deck”, including the contractors of the project.

Speaking during the visit, the Deputy NHA Managing Director for Technical Services, Gyude W. Allison, appealed for more funding to ease the housing needs of the people of Liberia, adding that “housing is understood to be an engine of growth in every economy.”

He also pointed out that when completed, the units will be mortgaged to those who were vetted and qualified.

The NASSCORP Village Estate construction is part of the NHA’s 5,000 affordable housing units, home ownership and Mortgage Program formulated in 2012 in collaboration with the housing sector working group.
