GBARNGA, July 18 (LINA) – Police in Gbarnga, Bong County have charged two men with armed robbery.

Sundayboy Momue and Paepa Flomo were charged over the weekend following Police preliminary investigation that linked them to an alleged armed robbery attack in the Mulbah Hill Community in Totota, Salala District.

Speaking to the Liberia News Agency in Gbarnga Monday, the Commander of the Crime Services Department (CSD), John Kelenso Flomo, said preliminary investigation established that the men entered the home of a lady identified as Promise Sanyon through the window while she was in another neighborhood in the same community.

Inspector Flomo said Promise later entered her house and saw the men taking away her belongings, but they threatened to kill her with a single barrel gun if she raised alarm.

The CSD boss noted that the men were arrested few hours later by some members of the Community Watch Team in Maimu after they escaped from Totota.

According to Police records, Sundayboy Momue had been sentenced earlier to seven years in prison for armed robbery at the Zwedru Central Prison, but broke jail and escaped three months ago.

Meanwhile, the Chief Superintendent of the Bong County Police Detachment, Fredrick Nappy, has said discussions are ongoing with the Ministry of Justice to return Sundayboy Momue to the Correction Palace in Grand Gedeh because he remains a convict, while Papa Flomo will be forwarded to court on Monday, July 18.
