LEGISPOL To Begin First Legislative Retreat In Buchannan Friday

MONROVIA, July 13 (LINA) - Journalists from several media institutions under the canopy of the Legislative Press-Pool (LEGISPOL) will Friday, July 15, begin a two-day Legislative Retreat in the port city of Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.

LEGISPOL is a conglomeration of journalists from several media outlets assigned at the Liberian Legislature.

The body, which serves as the only conveyor of news and information at the Legislature, has overtime immensely contributed to the growth and development of the media landscape in Liberia.

The retreat, according to a release issued by LEGISPOL on Tuesday, will review and adopt a new constitution for the body at a working session by members of the media auxiliary, followed by a one-day training session on “Legislative News Gathering and Reporting.”

The release said Deputy House Speaker Hans Barchue, Senate Pro-Tempore  Armah Jallah and Montserrado County Senator Geraldine Sherif are among key individuals expected to make presentations at the retreat.

The release also noted that the Press Union of Liberia (PUL), local and international civil society organizations, among other partners, have also been invited to the event.
