NBC To Work With Stakeholders In Concessions Monitoring

MONROVIA, July 10 (LINA) - The National Bureau of Concessions (NBC) has pledged to ensure collaboration with ministries, agencies and other stakeholders in the management of concessions and compliance monitoring.

NBC Director-General Ciata A. Bishop made the statement at a two-day workshop on “Improving NBC’s Viability on Concessions Compliance Monitoring” held in Gbarnga, Bong County sponsored by USAID GEMS, according to an NBC release issued recently.

Bishop added that as part of the bureau’s preparedness to collaborate with parties to concessions implementation, a national electronic database information gathering and reporting tool will be available at all time for easy access.

The NBC Director General asserted that concessions operations in the country are a bit slow due to the lack of access to land acquired by concessions companies that are usually contended by host communities.

She said local authorities are under obligation to create conducive environment for concessions to operate to help in infrastructural development and provision of employment opportunities for the citizens.

“County authorities and communities where concession companies operate must respect the decision of the government when concession agreements are signed,” she added.
