“Ebola Was Something No One Had Wished For,” Says Endee
By Derrick G. Menkarzon, LINA

MONROVIA, July 10 (LINA) - Culture Ambassador Juli Endee has said the deadly Ebola virus that snatched away the lives of thousands in the country was “something that no one had wished for, but became everyone’s problem.”

She described as unfortunate the fact that some citizens have elected to stigmatize and discriminate against Ebola survivors rather than show compassion with their condition.

Endee, who is also Head of the Community Engagement Component (CEC), a component of the mobilization team of PREVAIL, made the statement during the Ministry of Information press briefing at the ministry recently.

“Citizens should do away with stigmatization of people because Ebola is something that no one wished for and it became everyone’s problem,” she stressed.

Endee noted that although stigmatization is something that cannot be totally stopped, “awareness should be created for people to be sensitized.”

She then called on local leaders and residents to accept Ebola survivors in the communities and stop stigmatizing them.
