By Comfort M. Johnson, LINA

MONROVIA, June 28 (LINA)  - An instructor of the Seventh Day Adventist High School (SDA) on 12th Street in Monrovia has been detained at the Monrovia Central Prison by the Monrovia City Court for allegedly raping a 15-year-old student.

Defendant Festus Dagbe was on June 22 arrested by police and brought to the Women and Children Protection Section based upon a complaint filed by the victim’s mother alleging that her daughter was sexually abused by her classroom teacher on June 3.

The defendant was on Monday arraigned before the Monrovia City Court to answer to the charges levied against him.

According to the Police charge sheet, the victim on June 3 left her home and did not return.

The next day, which was Saturday, the victim called her mother and told her that her dress was torn, and that she had to change her clothes at a friend’s house.

The Police charge sheet further stated that the victim was called by the defendant on a phone and told her that they should meet at an entertainment center.

The charge sheet said that they met there, after which they went to the house of the defendant’s friend where he sexually abused her.

During police investigation, the defendant admitted having sexual intercourse with the victim and asked for mercy and also texted the
victim’s mother to forgive him.

Defendant Dagbe is currently detained awaiting court trial.
