Chief Hails Gov’t For Hospital Upgrade

GBARNGA, June 19 (LINA) - Panta District Clan Chief Alfred Porkpah has praised the Liberian government for the ongoing reconstruction of the Jowarh Hospital in the district.
The Clan Chief lauded President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf for closely working with the Legislature to foster several development projects across the country.
“President Sirleaf has enabled citizens to directly benefit from projects from the national budget and empowered them to demand their leaders to account for state resources,” he said.
Chief Porkpah expressed “special” gratitude to Bong County Senators Jewel Taylor and Henry Yallah and Representative Lester Paye for their support towards the reconstruction of the health facility.
Chief Porkpah said the three lawmakers have been very instrumental in ensuring that the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning provides the needed funding to implement the project.
Speaking to the Liberia News Agency in Panta recently, Chief Porkpah said as a result of their involvement, the Liberian-owned firm hired to implement the project has done significant work on the facility.
The Jowarh Hospital was one of the major health facilities that catered to thousands of residents of Bong County and parts of the Republic of Guinea in the 1970s but was destroyed during the civil crisis.
Its reconstruction is being implemented by the Liberia Agency for Community Empowerment (LACE) under the Legislative allotment in the
