Bomi May Get FIFA Artificial Turf Stadium
TUBMABURG, June 19 (LINA) - The Liberia Football Association (LFA) has written Bomi County Superintendent Samuel F. Brown informing him that it has accepted a request for the possible construction of an artificial turf stadium in Tubmanburg, the county capital.
The communication signed by LFA President Musa Bility said the request was made by Montserrado County District Six Representative Edwin Snowe on behalf of FIFA, the international governing body of football.
Bility said the decision to accept the request is in furtherance of FIFA’s desire to improve sporting activities in Liberia, especially in the western region of the country.
According to the communication, the LFA President said the gesture to construct he stadium is part of the FIFA Sports Development Program and its Extension Volunteer Programs in western Liberia.
The communication noted that in order to qualify for the project under FIFA Regulations, a Memorandum of Understanding must be signed between the LFA and Bomi County Authority.
It will enable LFA pay constant visits to the site; obtain a deed to the area to ensure that the property is owned by the county and that citizens of Bomi County must be given priority to job provision during the construction of the stadium.
Meanwhile, the citizens of Bomi County have expressed happiness for the construction of a modern stadium in their county, calling on county officials to expedite the process for an immediate start of construction work.
