TIP Official Urges Joint Fight Against Human Trafficking
By Stephen N. Sonpon, LINA

MONROVIA, June 19 (LINA) - The Deputy Coordinator of the National Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Secretariat at the Ministry of Labor, Alex Tosiah, has stressed the need for collaboration in the fight against human trafficking in Liberia.

According to him, human trafficking has become a serious business in the world where people trade in persons sent to unknown destinations, compelling them to engage in forced labor or services.

Tosiah made the statement recently at a one-day Educational Roundtable Training for media practitioners held in Monrovia under the theme: Trafficking in Persons (TIP).

He indicated that some individuals are in the habit of trafficking persons through force, coercion and deception to enslave them or for slave-like exploitation.

Tosiah noted that the Ministry of Labor is working with anti-human trafficking organizations to ensure that trafficking is eradicated in Liberia.

Meanwhile, Tosiah is urging the media to report cases and create awareness, education, and mobilization, and encourage the public to prevent human trafficking in the country and the world at large.
