By Philip T. Singbah, LINA Bong County Correspondent

GBARNGA, June 14 (LINA) - Citizens of District #4 in Bong County have commended Representative Lester Paye for rehabilitating the Bellemue-Nyantandla road in Panta District, Bong County.

Since its construction in the 1970s, the over 35 kilometers Bellemue-Nyantandla road was only recently rehabilitated by the office of the Bong County lawmaker.

Speaking at the road dedicatory ceremony during the weekend, the citizens said in a statement that the upgrade of the road has brought relief to them in accessing basic services and transporting their commodities to markets.

They explained that for too long the Bellemue-Nyantandla road has been damaged and praised Representative Paye for responding to their appeal for its betterment.

In remarks, Representative Paye reassured the citizens of his commitment to improve basic services in the district, and thanked them for supporting the workforce to rehabilitate the road.

Paye said his office has not only rehabilitated five feeder roads but was closely working with central government to increase health services and access to educational facilities in the district.

He named the recent dedication of the Boway Clinic, the ongoing construction of the Yowee Clinic and Jorwah Hospital as a major step in expanding healthcare delivery in the area.

The Bong County lawmaker said following series of discussions with President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, government is expected to upgrade the road linking Naama, Farvey, Yowee, Bellequoi and Foequelleh during the coming dry season.

Paye put the cost of the Bellemue-Nyantandla road rehabilitation at over US$20,000 and disclosed plans to also commence rehabilitation work on the road from Foe-la junction to Bellemue.

The newly rehabilitated Bellemue-Nyantandla road links Bong County to Nimba County and several border towns and villages in the Republic of Guinea.
