By Togar Christian Chea, LINA Rivercess County Correspondent

CESTOS CITY, June 13 (LINA) - About 40 women of the Cestos Girls Club in Cestos City, Rivercess County have attended a one-day workshop aimed at reducing sexual and gender-based violence (GBV) in the county.

The workshop, which was sponsored by Action Aid, an international NGO, was held under the auspices of the Bassa Women Development Association (BAWODA) in Rivercess County.

Speaking to journalists, facilitator George Doyan said the workshop was intended to build the knowledge of young women on access to justice and education.

Doyan noted that BAWODA is currently operating a solidarity girls club that will help members serve as peer educators in their communities.

He said the Cestos Girls Club is in various communities creating awareness on gender-based violence and sexual gender-based violence.

In remarks, the Chairperson of the River Cess Children Representative Forum, Diana Chea, pledged her organization’s continuous support to the eradication of gender-based violence in the county.

Chea called on parents not to compromise cases of violence against girls and women in their communities and thanked BAWODA for taking the initiative  to educate young women.
