ROBERTSPORT, June 7 (LINA) - Former Grand Cape Mount County Superintendent Imam Mohammed A. Paasewe is facing trail at the 5th Judicial Circuit in Robertsport on charges of “Theft of property”.
The disclosure was made by Grand Cape Mount County Attorney Harris Mowoah recently in an interview with journalists at his Robertsport office.
The people of Warko Kinjor highway filed a complaint against the former superintendent in 2014 alleging that he received US$50,000 meant for them, but failed to deliver same.
The citizens said the money was given to Imam Paasewe during his tenure by the Aureus Mining Company for onward delivery to the people whose crops and houses were damaged as a result of a road expansion project carried out by the company.
Meanwhile, the former superintendent has pleaded not guilty to the charge brought against him.
Imam Paasewe was relieved of his post by President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf in 2015.
