Court Jails Motorcyclist On Rape Charge In Sinoe
By Christopher Wiah, LINA Sinoe County Correspondent

GREENVILLE, June 4 (LINA) -The Johnny N. Lewis 3rd Judicial Circuit Court in Greenville, Sinoe County has jailed a motorcyclist at the Greenville Correction Palace pending trial for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl at his home.

The girl, whose name is being withheld because she is a minor, is currently admitted at the Francis James Grant Memorial Hospital undergoing treatment for profuse bleeding, according to a police charge sheet.

The charge sheet indicated that the girl was walking home from a nearby shop at about 8:30 p.m. on May 21 when Samuel Arthur, 23, offered to give her a ride on his motorbike.

However, instead of taking the girl to her house, Arthur took her to his Mississippi Street residence and allegedly raped her, causing her to bleed profusely, the charge sheet indicated.

The charge sheet further stated that when the girl’s parents noticed that she was bleeding upon arrival home late that night, and inquired about what had happened, she informed them about the incident after which they notified the police.

The charge sheet pointed out that during preliminary investigation, Arthur denied raping the girl, saying the sex he had with her was consensual as a manifestation of a romantic relationship between them.

The court is to hear the case shortly.
