MONROVIA, Nov. 16 (LINA) - The Worlorwumo and Goizo public schools in Bluyeama Clan, Zorzor District in Lofa County are on the verge of collapse due to lack of teachers.
The Chairlady of Worlorwumo Town Women Development Association (WTWDA), Madam Kollie Flomo, attributed this to the abandonment of classes by volunteer teachers, whose names are yet to be placed on the Education Ministry’s payroll.
Madam Flomo told the Liberia News Agency in an interview shortly upon arrival in Monrovia Saturday that Most of the teachers have been rendering voluntary services for over two years.
She is appealing to the Education Ministry to place the names of these teachers on its payroll and assign trained teachers to the schools as well as provide instructional materials to improve the learning in the Clan.
Chairlady Flomo also lamented the deplorable condition of the two schools, and asked the government to urgently rehabilitate them to help meet the educational needs of the growing student population in the area.
