TUBMANBURG, May 30 (LINA) - The Feed the Farmers (FEFA) initiatives in Tubmanburg, Bomi County has donated assorted food items and household utensils worth US$3,234 to 35 members of the Widow Farmers Association (WIFA) in Weajoh Town, Dewein District.
Items include buckets, tubs, vegetable oil, cups and beans, which the Chairman of FEFA, Mohammed Sando, said was in response to a request by WIFA in the district recently.
Presenting the items over the weekend, Sando reminded the women that such gesture “is not a right, but a privilege,” and urged them to properly use the items for the survival of their families.
Sando noted that many needy women like them are in the country but were unable to get such privilege despite many appeals made by them to the international community.
He urged the WIFA leaders to think about how to build the capacity of the organization to reach out to those FEFA members that they cannot reach to help.
Receiving the items, the Executive Secretary of WIFA, Ophelia Wilson, said the WIFA members are grateful for the donation.
Wilson assured Sando of her organization’s commitment to use the items for the intended purpose, adding, “It will be a great help to the widows and their families.”
