VOINJAMA, May 29 (LINA) - Police in Lofa County have arrested and charged a 26-year-old man identified as Stephen Hena for attempted murder.
Hena, a ninth grader of the Bondorlahun Public School in Kolahun District, was recently arrested at Saw Mill Camp in Lisco Community in Voinjama for stabbing his girlfriend and attempting to kill himself with a knife.
According to the police charge sheet, defendant Hena had gone to Lisco for his girlfriend, Kumba Stephen, who had gone to the area to cater to her sick father.
The Police charge sheet indicated that Hena carried out the act when his pregnant fiancée refused to go with him back to Kolahun on grounds that the pregnancy was not his, but for another man, who also lives in Sawmill in Lisco.
Hena told police investigators that upon hearing that he got annoyed, took a knife and stabbed her on the back and hand and attempted killing himself, but did not succeed.
Meanwhile, the victim is currently undergoing treatment at the Tellewoyan Memorial Hospital in Voinjama, while the perpetrator is in
police custody awaiting court trial.
