By Sampson G. David, LINA Grand Bassa County Correspondent

BUCHANAN, April 20 (LINA) - A heavy storm has unroofed several buildings at the Grand Bassa County Community College’s newly-constructed Painburry campus.

The incident occurred Sunday night, April 17.

Structures affected include the agriculture department, administrative building and part of the technical and vocational education welding shop as well as a building behind the cafeteria.

The roof of the agriculture department was totally removed, while about seven sheets of zinc were removed from each of the other buildings.

GBCCC President Dr. Levi Zangai said the destruction of the buildings is “a serious embarrassment to the college and requires quick intervention.”

Dr. Zangai said he has communicated with the Board of Directors of GBCCC and the Superintendent of Grand Bassa County, J.Levi Demah, to apprise them of the situation for remedy to be found.

Commenting on the incident, Superintendent Demah said he has requested the college to writ the County Administration for onward submission to the Ministry of internal Affairs Disaster Management Team to provide some help to the college.

A total of US$2.2 million from the County and Social Development Funds was spent to construct the college.

It was constructed by the Chinese firm, China Builders Inc.
