Bong CEO Lauds Teachers For Sitting Evaluation Test
By Philip T. Singbah, LINA Bong County Correspondent

GBARNGA, April 10 (LINA) - Bong County Education Officer Edward Kpulun has praised public school teachers in the county for sitting the just-ended Evaluation Test conducted by the Ministry of Education.

The Ministry recently conducted the test at the Dolokelen Gboveh High, John F. Bakalu and Dorothy Cooper schools in Gbarnga.

Kpulun said despite the call by the National Teachers Association of Liberia (NTAL) for its members to boycott the exercise, 87 percent of public school
teachers in the county sat the test.

Speaking to the Liberia News Agency in Gbarnga recently, Mr. Kpulun noted that of the 1,829 public school teachers in Bong County, 1,612 participated in the test.

He lauded the teachers for adhering to the mandate of the Ministry of Education and encouraged them to continue their support to the ministry’s reform agenda.

Kpulun noted that besides those who sat the test on Monday, his office has registered additional 87 teachers whose names will be submitted to the ministry to write the test at a later date.

The NTAL has protested the test alleging that the Ministry of Education had designed it to delete the names of over 6,000 teachers from government's payroll.

However, the Bong CEO clarified that the testing and evaluation process is meant to categorize teachers as per their qualifications and performance for future training and other opportunities.
