Crime Rate Drops In Margibi County - Police Chief
By Richard D. Baysah, LINA Margibi County Correspondent

KAKATA, March 31 (LINA) – The Commander of the Margibi County Police detachment, Chief Superintendent Augustine Warri, has disclosed that the crime rate in the county has dropped over the last quarter.

He has attributed the reduction to a number of decisive police raids on criminal hideouts in various communities between January and February.

In his presentation during the county’s regular monthly Peace, Security and Rule of Law Pillar meeting in Kakata recently, Warri reported that there was an increase in criminal activities between the months of November and December 2015 “due to the festive season.”

“But crimes in the county began to drop as a result of series of raids carried out in various communities in January and February,” he pointed out.

Warri noted that the police has resolved three of 27 criminal cases reported, which were sent to court for prosecution, while four are pending investigation. He did not disclose the nature of the cases.

He indicated that there has been much improvement in the relationship between the public and police in Margibi County, adding that “this was done mainly through community policing and meetings with various communities throughout Margibi County.”
