Margibi Police Appeals For Logistics
By Richard D. Baysah, LINA Margibi County Correspondent

KAKATA, March 29 (LINA) - Margibi County Police Department Chief Superintendent Augustine Leo Warri has appealed to government and its partners for support to ensure effective policing in the county.

In a report submitted during the county’s regular Monthly Peace, Security and Rule of Law Pillar Meeting in Kakata Monday, Warri named vehicles, office supplies and “other essential materials” as items needed to carry out effective operations in the wake of the U.N. Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) drawdown.

He pointed out that the only police jeep assigned to the county has outlived its usefulness and often breaks down while being used in police operations.

According to Warri, the police have been finding it difficult to combat crimes in the county as a result of these challenges.

Meanwhile, Warri has reported much improvement in police public relations, attributing the improvement to the community policing programs as well as meetings with various communities.

At the same time, Warri has expressed concern that there are currently a total of 74 police officers assigned to Margibi County, with just two in the entire Gibi District which has a population of over 25,000.
