Bong College Gets Interim Management Team

By Philip T. Singbah, LINA Bong County Correspondent

GBARNGA, March 29 (LINA) - The Board of Trustees of the Bong County Technical College (BCTC) has constituted a four-man interim management committee to oversee the affairs of the College as recently mandated by President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

President Sirleaf gave the mandate when she suspended the President of the College, Dr. John Flomo, recently.

The Chief Executive also mandated the board to conduct an audit of the College finances and as well as the construction of the facility and submit a report to her office within 60 days.

Speaking to the Liberia News Agency following a board meeting in Gbarnga Tuesday, the Chairman of the Board, Dr. Walter Wiles, said the interim management team is headed by Dr. Roland Massaquoi, who is also a member of the board.

Dr. Wiles name other members of the team as Madam Viola Cooper, Dr. Walter Gwenigale and Mrs. Debah Varpilah , while the Commission on Higher education is an adviser.

Dr. Wiles said the mandate of the committee is to supervise the day-to-day operation of the College, with other staff members, gather needed information and do a complete analysis about the status of the College to the board for on-ward submission to President Sirleaf.

He noted that the interim management team will, however, give initial information to the board in three weeks regarding what it takes to conduct an audit.

The BCTC board chairman noted that the selection of individuals to the interim management team was a unanimous decision by members of the board.

Meanwhile, the Chinese firm constructing the Bong Technical College, the China Liberia Investment Group, has assured the county administration that work will resume at the college this week and that the first floor will be completed in 45 days.
