MICAT To Hold 5-Day Workshop On Heritage

MONROVIA, March 23 (LINA) – The Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism (MICAT) will hold a workshop within the framework of the International Assistance Request for the “World Heritage Tentative List for Liberia.”
In an interview with the Liberia News Agency Wednesday, Assistant Minister of Culture Madam Louis McMillian said the workshop is aimed at presenting possible sites for inscription on the World Heritage Properties.
She noted that the workshop, which will begin March 28, will be held in collaboration with the U. N. Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and relevant national authorities responsible to conserve natural and cultural heritages.
Minister McMillian pointed out that some of the topics at the workshop will include a short introduction about the World Heritage, Conservation, Operational Guidelines; the World Heritage List and Review of the Tentative List Format for the Nomination Dossier.
According to her, the workshop will be facilitated by international expert Pascal Taruvinga, a South African, who is expected to arrive in Liberia this weekend
She added that the workshop will also be facilitated by national experts, including Dr. Joseph Saye Guannu, Mr. Armandu K. Daniels and Mr. Lasanah Dukuly along with Site Managers Mr. Curtis R. Jarrett, Dr. Arthur Bob Karnuah, Mr. Roger Luke, Mr. Charles Jarrett and Professor Jones Dopoe.
