GBARNGA, March 13 (LINA) - Police in Gbarnga are probing a mob violence that led to the death of a 19-year-old boy identified as Abraham Kolleh.
Kolleh reportedly armed robbed a lady in the Brooklyn Community and while trying to escape, he was apprehended and severely flogged by an angry crowd.
He later died at the Phebe Hospital after he was taken there by the police for treatment.
Speaking to the Liberia News Agency (LINA) in Gbarnga recently, the acting Commander of the Crime Services Department (CSD) of the Bong County Police Detachment, Inspector Keleson Flomo said medical report from the hospital indicates that Kolleh died as the result of the wounds sustained.
He noted that although the lady fainted during the robbery, she has been discharged from hospital and is gradually recovering.
Inspector Flomo, however, said no arrest has been made.
Meanwhile, Flomo has warned residents of Bong County against mob violence.
He said while it is true that citizens are hurt by these criminals, mob violence undermines the rule of law, and encouraged residents to always report cases to the relevant authority.
