SLPP Building Hand Pumps In 11 Communities

By D. Ignatius Roberts, LINA Grand Cape Mount County Correspondent

ROBERTSPORT, March 13 (LINA) - The  Sustainable Livelihood Promoter Program (SLPP), a local non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Grand Cape Mount County, has embarked on the installation of hand pumps in 11 communities in Garwula District.

Making the disclosure to the Liberia News Agency (LINA) in Robertsport at the weekend, SLPP Executive Director Vonzua Waritay said the project is a result of the constant shortage of safe-drinking water across communities in the county, resulting to citizens fetching water from creeks.

Waritay told LINA that the project is being financed by Finland Church Aid (FCA), an international non-governmental organization (INGO) based in Europe.

The SLPP official, who did not disclose the cost of the project, has meanwhile admonished the beneficiaries to manage the facilities properly.
