Senator Taylor Wants Women Unite In Gender Equality Fight
By Jeradine M. Gbaa, Intern

BUCHANAN, March 10 (LINA) - Bong County Senator Jewel Howard Taylor has called on the women of Liberia to remain united in the fight for gender equality so that together they can achieve their goal.

She said women should eschew their differences as they campaign for parity, and that they should not allow their political and cultural differences to impede the noble quest that they have long pursued.

Senator Taylor made the call Tuesday on behalf of the Women Legislative Caucus of Liberia at a program marking the celebration of International Women’s Day in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.
Taylor said the fight for gender equality has come a long way and that there is still more work to be done to achieve this goal by 2030.

She said the circle of advocacy should be maintained at all cost and should not be broken by political differences or other external factors.

“The struggle for women’s political and economic empowerment has been long, and amidst the numerous difficulties and our differences, let us not break the circle in our struggle for women’s equality,” Taylor noted.

She also pointed out that the fight for gender balance is gaining momentum due to the influx of men who have offered their support to the campaign in recent times.
