Attorney Decries Traditional Leaders Meddling In Court Matters
By David Pamas Seedee, LINA Bomi County Correspondent

TUBMANBURG, March 4 (LINA) – County Attorney Stephen Williams has expressed concern that the constant interference of traditional leaders in cases is hampering the judicial process in Bomi County.

Cllr. Williams said traditional leaders in the county are in the habit of stopping court proceedings on grounds that these cases have cultural implications, and as such should be handled by traditional leaders and not the court.

Cllr. Williams sounded the alarm recently in Tubmanburg in an interview with a team of reporters.

He called on the County Administration to prevail on the traditional leaders to desist from such unwholesome act and allow the due process of law to take its course whenever a crime is committed.

The Bomi County Attorney said the traditional leaders in some instances compromise criminal cases that are already in the court, leaving some parties refusing to go back to the court to dismiss the cases while the accused persons are still in the court’s custody.
