Female Chief Frowns On Growing Teenage Pregnancy
By D .Ignatius Roberts, LINA Grand Cape Mount County Correspondent

ROBERTSPORT, February 28 (LINA) - The Paramount Chief of Garwula District in Grand Cape Mount County, Jartu Sheriff, has frowned on the growing wave of teenage pregnancy in the district.

She observed that because of teenage pregnancy several female students have dropped out of school.

In an interview with journalists at her Vonzua office recently, Chief Sheriff said the rate of teenage pregnancy in the district has claimed the attention of the local authorities and that there was an urgent need to find a solution to the situation.

Paramount Chief Sheriff observed that the dropping out of school of females has the propensity to increase the already high illiteracy rate in the district.

She is therefore appealing to female students who are currently pregnant to return to school upon giving birth to prepare themselves to meet future challenges.

The local official observed that if these girls are not educated, it would be difficult for them to contribute to the growth and development of Liberia.
