Pres. Sirleaf Receives LACC, GSC Reports on Japanese Grant

MONROVIA, February 26 (LINA) - President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has received the Preliminary Audit Report on the Japanese grant managed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC).

The President has also received a detailed forensic audit report from the General Auditing Commission (GAC) covering all sectors of the government that benefitted from the Japanese grant.

The LACC has also submitted its final investigation report on the grant to the Ministry of Justice for review and action.

According to an Executive mansion release, President Sirleaf has also forwarded the two reports to the Ministry of Justice for appropriate review and advisement in order to determine the actions to be taken.

It can be recalled that President Sirleaf in September 2015 commissioned both audits to look into reports of the alleged mismanagement of the Japanese grant to Liberia.

At the time, the Liberian leader pledged the government’s commitment to investigate the saga and ensure accountability in the management of the grant.
