Rep. Chambers Submits Education Bill For Enactment
By Wilfred Gortor, LINA

MONROVIA, February 16 (LINA) - Maryland County Representative Dr. Bhofal Chambers has submitted to the House of Representatives for enactment a Bill entitled: “The Equal Opportunity Public Education Act.”

The Maryland lawmaker, in a communication addressed to House Speaker Alex Tyler on Tuesday, said the bill is in recognition of Article 6 of the Liberian Constitution which highlights the principle of equality of education opportunities for all.

Chambers noted that the intent of the bill is to facilitate the practical education transformation process of Liberia, ensuring that development, with all its dimensions, does not elude Liberia and its people now and in the future.

He entreated members of the Lower House to see the urgency and timeliness, based on manifest necessities, to support and endorse the passage of the bill.

Meanwhile, the House of Representative has received and forwarded the bill to its Committees on Ways, Means and Finance, Education and Judiciary for further evaluation and perusal.

The committees are expected to present their report to plenary within two weeks.
