By Philip T. Singbah, LINA Bong County Correspondent

GBARNGA, February 15 (LINA)  -Vice President Joseph N. Boakai is encouraging Liberians to invest in the soil as a means of improving theirlivelihood.

He said Liberia has a rich soil and it is important that citizens, regardless of their status in society, get involved in agriculture to improve their economic and social wellbeing.

The Liberian vice president was speaking Sunday in Gbarnga, Bong County when he officially launched Christ Vision Church International Ministries Christian Radio Station in Gbarnga.

He lauded the head of the ministries, Rev. James Paye, and the congregation for the efforts exerted to take the church to a higher level through agriculture.

Vice President Boakai said agriculture is the bedrock of any country like Liberia, and stressed the need for Liberians to make use of the soil to feed the nation and sustain its development process.

He pledged US$5,000 towards the station’s television project.

Speaking earlier, Rev. Paye said the radio is a Christian station established to spread the Good News of Jesus and help build the spiritual and moral consciousness of Liberians.

Pastor Paye said the goal of the congregation is to build a television component of the station this 2016.

He explained that the church has over the last three years engaged in farming which empowered it to construct the radio station and a new facility to host the congregation.

Rev. Paye praised Vice President Boakai for his long-standing support to Liberian farmers, and appealed to him to continue support to the sector to lift Liberians out of poverty.

Internal Affairs Minister Dr. Henrique Tokpa and Bong County acting Superintendent Anthony Sheriff attended the radio station launching ceremony.
