Pres. Sirleaf Urges Vigilance For Peace, Stability
By Ballah M. Kollie, LINA

MONROVIA, February 11 (LINA) – President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has emphasized the need for Liberians to remain vigilant against negatives that could affect the peace and stability of the country.

She also admonished citizens not to waver in protecting themselves against extremism and the consequences of terrorism.

“We took bold decisions to change things and restore public confidence in our military and security sector; it has not been easy against the background of constraints of limited resources and technical inefficiencies,” President Sirleaf said, adding, “In spite of it all we did not waver.”

She made the statement in her message at celebrations marking the 59th anniversary of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) held Thursday at the Barclay Training Center in Monrovia.

President Sirleaf called on citizens to seek to be better informed and ensure effective coordination and preparedness between and among the military and civilian law enforcement agencies.

“We must avoid actions that threaten the peace and security of the country and ensure that it remains stable,” she stressed.
