Maryland Supt. Warns Against Rejecting Liberian Banknotes
By John Borpleh, LINA Maryland County Correspondent

HARPER, February 9 (LINA) - Maryland County Superintendent Betsy Toe has warned citizens and residents of the county against refusing to transact business with mutilated Liberian banknotes.

Superintendent Toe warned that anyone refusing Liberian mutilated notes will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

Supt. Toe said the Liberian dollar is the legal tender of the country, and therefore its value must be respected by all.

The Maryland County Superintendent sounded the warning on Monday in an interview with reporters in the wake of complaints from residents that business transaction in the county has become unfavorable because people were refusing mutilated Liberian dollar notes.

The County Superintendent noted that refusal of the money will hamper the economic growth of the county.

She assured that after passing from one hand to another, the banks will eventually be accepted and used by all.
