CBL To Dedicate Community Bank in Bong

GBARNGA, February 2 (LINA) -The Executive Governor of the Central Bank of Liberia, Dr. Joseph Mills Jones, will Wednesday, February 3, officially open the Totota Rural Finance Institution in Salala District, Bong County.

The Totota Community Bank is the first financial institution to be established in lower Bong County to provide citizens easy access to banking services.

A release from the Central Bank of Liberia issued in Gbarnga Tuesday said the rural community finance institution project is part of the Central Bank’s effort to enhance economic activities in rural Liberia.

According to the CBL release, the initiative is also intended to create an inclusive financial environment through the delivery of financial services to inhabitants of rural communities.

The release noted that the Totota Community Bank will provide savings mobilization, checking accounts, loans and direct deposits for civil servants as well as Money Gram and Western Union transfer services.

The Central Bank hopes that the establishment of the Totota Community Bank will encourage local investment and further increase economic activities in Bong County
