By D. Ignatius Roberts, Grand Cape County Correspondent

ROBERTSPORT, February 1 (LINA) -Two Sierra Leoneans have been arrested with 27 kilograms of marijuana worth L$300,000 at Bo Waterside in Tewor District, Grand Cape Mount County.

Alieu Kargbo, 23, and a minor whose name is being withheld, were arrested at the weekend by the joint security following a tipoff by sources.

The Grand Cape Mount Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Commander Octavius Manning told the Liberia News Agency Monday that the pair was traveling from Freetown, the Sierra Leonean capital, to the Liberian capital Monrovia when they were arrested.

He stated that a search launched by the DEA officers on the persons and belongings of the pair at the checkpoint led to the discovery of the drug.

Manning pointed out that Kargbo and the minor are presently undergoing preliminary investigation after which they will be forwarded to the Tienii Magisterial Court for prosecution.

He said the two are currently detained at the Bo Waterside Police checkpoint pending the conclusion of the investigation.
